programs. To make certain that reading is fun
again for every child in Metro Detroit. Reading
saves lives and families.

Dads Love 2 Read Program:
We want to make sure that our third and fourth graders have large amounts of
reading practice before they go on to the fifth grade, when the reading work load
increases. Without reading nothing else is possible. The need to capture this
audience is critical to the surrounding environment. Without the grasp of reading, the
family system is affected in terms of employment and earned status in society. Also,
the surrounding environment is effected because an uneducated or unskilled person
will eventually need public assistance.
Our pilot is underway at Wayne Elementary School in Detroit. Students arrive 30
minutes prior to start of class Monday-Thursday. The sessions are informal but
inviting. The kids are fully engaged while exploring many stories, characters, and
new words. They are learning that reading can be fun.
